Be Filled
With God

It is essential for us, as Christians, not to leave void places in any area of our lives.  Everywhere there is a void or emptiness, the enemy is given an opportunity to fill that place with his destructive influences.  So with great effort and intent, we must seek to fill our lives with the good and positive things of godliness. The devil works best where there is a lack of other things.  This is exemplified best by the fact that evil is merely the absence of good, darkness is the absence of light, and death is the absence of life. One of the names of God, “El Shaddai,” means “Giver Forth.”  Imagine God pouring forth His glory so that our lives may be full of the substance of God.  However, we must be careful and not take the devil too lightly; he is a professional at using his influence to fill areas of our lives.  In addition, realize that we’ve already gotten the enemy’s attention and that demons are going to and fro seeking places that are clean, orderly, and most importantly empty. (I Peter 5:8; Matthew 12:43-45)

FILLING OUR SPIRITS
God is a spirit, so it is only by seeking to increase our spirituality that we can be close to God.  The Bible says to be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). This text indicates a perpetual state of being filled. We must pump our lives full of God’s Word of Truth and “lift our spiritual weights” by taking out quality time to pursue God.  It is good to harvest an atmosphere of godliness by surrounding ourselves with songs, words, and people that provide food for the spirit-man.  It is then that we can have a good rapport and relationship with God, as well as the spiritual authority over everything that’s not like God. Once our spirit is filled, we can fill the atmosphere around us with godliness wherever we may go.

FILLING OUR MIND
The devil is so very sneaky, and he likes the dark, hidden places. One of the first places we have a hard time “seeing” the enemy is in our mind.  He works adamantly to impact our thought patterns.  Once the enemy decreases the integrity of our thinking, he can then overflow to our feelings.  Our feelings go on to influence our habits, actions, and behaviors. Therefore, the devil can take over our lives just by sowing a seed in our mind.  That’s why the Bible states that “For as [man] thinketh in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7 KJV) Therefore we must actively fill our minds with thoughts of goodness, godliness, purity, success, and victory. Think Good. Live Good. (Philippians 4:8)

FILLING OUR HEARTS
We also have to actively fill our heart.  The Bible says that the heart is “deceitful” and “desperately wicked.”  So we must allow God to guard and fill our hearts. (Jeremiah 9:9-10; 17:9)  We have to purify our hearts from the things that are impure or unholy and we must also be watchful of the things that we become affectionate about.  Even our desires and affections have to come under the subjection of God’s perfect will for our lives. That is why we need to ask God to give us the affections that He wants us to have.  Our hearts should be filled and overflowing with love, compassion, good intentions, and sincerity.

Be encouraged to fill your day with good things. See the positive side of everything and enjoy God’s beautiful creation. Allow your spirit, heart, and mind to be saturated with the things of God. In doing so, you don’t even give the enemy a chance!
